We Train Tomorrow's Workers
Comprehensive Training | Reliable Labor | Competitive Advantage
The UBC’s Regional Training Centers offer unparalleled access to elite Mass Timber installers and the most comprehensive skills training program available in North America. Our training programs are designed to meet the diverse needs of our members, focusing not only on enhancing technical skills in their trade but also on developing communication skills, applied science knowledge, personal growth, technology training, and leadership abilities.
For UBC carpenters, our Mass Timber program features an extensive curriculum that equips members with the knowledge necessary for the effective installation of Mass Timber Construction materials. This program includes training on the proper use of Mass Timber tools and best practices for installation.
It is essential for UBC members to consider various factors when working on Mass Timber projects. Understanding engineered wood columns, beams, and panels is critical, as these materials provide exceptional strength, stability, and fire resistance. Additionally, our training covers reading structural and shop drawings, common connections for columns, beams, and panels, field modifications, and moisture management products.
With our network of training centers throughout North America, we transfer skills and knowledge from highly-skilled and experienced instructors to UBC members with the support of the Carpenters International Training Fund (CITF).
The mission of the CITF is to facilitate state-of-the-art training across the skilled trades, providing the union and signatory contractors with a competitive advantage in the construction industry.
Programs will range from simple tool use and material handling, to more technical systems, but one CITF initiative for members remains constant: Whatever you do, whenever you do it, be the best and be productive.
